NB: A business name is the same thing as an enterprise or a venture or a sole proprietorship.

Sole Proprietorship
A sole proprietorship is the simplest and most common type of business incorporation. It is owned and operated by one person who has complete control over the business. The owner is personally responsible for all debts and liabilities of the business. This means that if the business incurs debt or is sued, the owner's personal assets may be at risk.
Partnership
A partnership is a business incorporation that is owned and operated by two or more people. In a partnership, the partners share profits and losses equally, unless otherwise specified in a partnership agreement. Each partner is personally responsible for all debts and liabilities of the business, just like a sole proprietorship.
Limited Liability Company (LLC)
A limited liability company (LLC) is a hybrid incorporation that combines the advantages of a corporation and a partnership. An LLC provides limited liability protection to its owners, like a corporation, and business ownership can be easily transferred to someone else.

It ensures that your business is recognized by the government and also protects your brand from infringement.
It also gives you access to several benefits such as
- Opening a corporate bank account
- Legal recognition,
- Customer credibility,
- Access to business and funding opportunities
- Access to Loans and Grants
- Convenience to doing business with partners without worry

The best way to legally structure your business is as a Limited LiabilityCompany. It is better than as an enterprise or a business name as it offers you more legal protection, sustainability and you can do much more with it than with a business name.

First, register it with the Corporate Affairs Commissions and then with any other relevant authority depending on the nature of your business.
You can also protect and secure the name of your business by filing for trademark registration.

You would be left with no other choice but to choose a different and a unique name for your business. You can also tweak the name so that it is significantly different from the other existing names.

CAC public directory allows you to check for the availability of your proposed business name.

Yes, you can always upgrade your business name anytime in the future to a Limited Liability Company.
